Clarets Legend Joins AFC Hornchurch

Ryman Premier side AFC Hornchurch have announced the signing of experienced midfielder Dave Rainford. Dave joins Hornchurch who are looking to return to the Skrill Conference South at the first attempt after he recently requested a release from his contract at Chelmsford City.

Originally on the books at Colchester United, he has also had spells with Grays Athletic, Heybridge Swifts, Ford United, Slough Town, Bishop’s Stortford and Dagenham & Redbridge. The midfielder left the Daggers to take up a senior teaching role at an Essex school and joined the Clarets in June 2008, where he spent five years and played in over 220 games.

Dave is huge favourite at Melbourne Park for his drive and leadership, and will add experience to the middle of the park whilst also assisting in a coaching role at . In a statement on the official Chelmsford site Dave said: “I am moving on to experience another challenge in a player coach role. I feel I can contribute to another club on and off the field and my desire is as strong as ever.”
