Championship side Wigan Athletic have confirmed that Callum McManaman has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal at the DW Stadium.

McManaman has made 33 league appearances for the Latics and the 22-year-old is now tied to the Championship side until 2017. The winger, a relation to former England, Liverpool and Real Madrid player Steve McManaman, made a huge impact at the DW Stadium last season, playing a major part in their FA Cup triumph against Man City.

McManaman told the club’s website: “I’m delighted to get my future sorted. This is where I made my debut and got my break in football and I just want to thank the Manager for having faith in me.”

He joined Wigan from Everton in 2007 and had a loan spell at Blackpool before his first-team breakthrough at the DW Stadium, making his Wigan debut in 2009.
