FC United Strengthen Squad

Karl Marginson has boosted his FC United of Manchester playing squad with the signing of striker Tom Greaves from Conference North club Bradford Park Avenue.

Greaves joined Avenue for a second spell back in 2010 from Garforth Town where he had scored twenty-eight times during the 2009/10 season.

He was originally on the books of Avenue’s first-team between 2004-07 after making the step up from the reserves before moving on to non league clubs Guiseley, Woodley Sports, Bridlington Town and Ossett Town.

Greaves scored the winning goal against the Reds in the play-off final last season to secure Bradford’s promotion and he is well regarded at the Horsfall Stadium.

The deal comes following winger Astley Mulholland’s return to the club and is a further signal of Reds manager Karl Marginson intent on a promotion push as they enter the business end of the season.

Marginson brought midfielder Astley Mulholland back to Gigg Lane from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League rivals Ashton United. The 25 year old has also had time playing for Altrincham and Abbey Hey.
