Former Everton and Fulham midfielder Sean Doherty has signed for Blue Square Bet Conference North side Droylsden.

Doherty started his football career playing for Everton’s youth academy before moving in July 2001 to Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

He left the Cottagers in 2005 and has since played for Dutch club ADO Den Haag, Port Vale, Accrington Stanley, Belgian side Royal Antwerp and Sligo Rovers in the League of Ireland Premier Division, before joining to Witton Albion in July 2009.

He moved to Northern Premier League rivals Marine in February 2010 and then in the summer of 2011 Doherty joined Colwyn Bay.

He left Bay just three months later to take up a scouting role at Premier League side Chelsea.

Doherty signed for Liverpool County Premier League Division One side Old Holts in September 2012, and joined neighbours AFC Liverpool a couple of months later in the North West Counties League.
