Chippenham Town Appoint Mark Collier

By on November 8, 2013

Mark Collier has been appointed as the new manager of Calor League Southern Premier Division side Chippenham Town.

Collier will be Chippenham’s third manager this season following Nathan Rudge’s resignation and Steve Winter’s dismissal last week following their 9-0 home defeat by Stourbridge. Shockingly Winter was absent from the game after his wife had arranged a surprise 40th birthday holiday.

Collier has spent two spells at Swindon Supermarine where they gained promotion to the Southern Premier in his first spell and in his second the 54-year-old famously led Marine to the second round of the FA Cup in November 2010, where they lost 1-0 to League One Colchester United. He left the club three months later and has since held coaching positions at Wootton Bassett and Abingdon United.

Collier will be joined by his former Marine assistant boss Tom Jones and their first game in charge will be this weekend when the Bluebirds take on high-riding Cambridge City, who beat them back in September.
